Hybrid Willows are a multi use tree. These trees grow 8ft. per year and are full size in only 3yrs!(approx. 30ft. tall) Aside from privacy hedges/ wind breaks/ or shade trees, willows are used as a way to control water levels in gully or slump erosions as well as for salinity control. Also Hybrid Willows are used as livestock feed for horses, cows, goats etc. They love these trees and are a great source of protein for livestock. Hybrid willow produce 30 tons of dry matter yeald per 2.5 acres, whereas good grass only produces 10-15 tons of feed per 2.5acres. This is how it works, your livestock can graze the tree all the way down to it's stub without killing the tree and it will grow back rapidly, while your livestock are grazing the willows your natural feed in your pasture will grow, giving them more grazing per acre as it goes uneaten while they graze the Willows.
